We were surprised to find these unexpected visitors on Church Street today. Despite the bitter cold, apparently the dried berries on our little tree out front were too tempting for our woodland friends to resist.
We spent a snowy day inside watching the Orioles flutter around this tree and another in the back. Some appeared so fluffy and plump that it seemed perfectly logical for them to be sitting quietly on the bare branch in such cold and snow. We even found a few squirrels perched with them busily munching on berries before scurrying off somewhere.
Our visitors today inspired us to begin work on a berry red cape and neck warmer in a fluffy roving wool in honor of our friends! Check back to see the finished work.
